
The Coachlight Motel on the 300 block of S. Motel Boulevard suffered significant damage from a fire yesterday afternoon. According to the City of Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Fire Department was called to the scene just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, following reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the front door and windows of a ground-floor unit. They were able to quickly begin to attack the blaze, employing their skills to contain the fire solely to the one unit. The fire was reported to be under control within a remarkably short 15 minutes after the crews arrived at the scene.
While the fire's origins remain under investigation, the affected motel unit has been deemed a total loss. There have been no estimates currently released regarding the cost of damages inflicted by the fire. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
