Local high school student Christopher Hilz was recognized this week by Mayor Stan Booker for his contributions to the community through the Boy Scouts of America. At a recent City Council meeting, Hilz received a Mayoral Citation for his leadership and service. As part of his Eagle Scout Project, he built an ADA-compliant gazebo at the Center for Creative Living, providing senior citizens with improved outdoor access.
According to the City of Lawton website, Hilz, a student at Lawton High School and Great Plains Technology Center, has earned the Eagle Scout rank, participates in the Civil Air Patrol, and is undergoing flight training. He is on track to obtain his private pilot’s license and plans to pursue a career in aviation and serve in the United States Military.
Mayor Booker highlighted Hilz’s dedication and positive influence as a role model in the community. The Mayoral Citation recognizes Hilz’s work and his efforts to combine his interest in aviation with public service.
