A road incident earlier today resulted in the disablement of a school zone safety feature in Lebanon. The Lebanon Police Department reported via social media that a non-injury accident effectively knocked out the northbound 15 MPH school zone flashing sign for Southside Elementary.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the accident did not involve any students or school buses. However, the mishap has prompted local authorities to remind the public to be extra vigilant. Traffic is said to be flowing normally after the incident was cleared, but drivers are urged to remember the active school zone times: 6:45 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. During these periods, drivers are asked to adhere to the 15 mph speed limit indicated by the disabled signage.
The police emphasize the importance of safe driving in school zones and highlight that this is especially critical now, given the absence of the customary visual reminder. "Drive carefully until the sign is repaired," advises the Lebanon Police Department's statement.
