Following a recent traffic incident in Alhambra, local law enforcement has taken a man into custody on suspicion of DUI. The Alhambra Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the scene of a rollover collision at the intersection of Hellman Ave. and Campbell Ave. The officers discovered an SUV on its side, having collided with a parked car, a water meter, and finally coming to rest against a city light pole.
According to the Alhambra Police Department's Facebook post, the driver, identified as Ronald Darden of Los Angeles, appeared to show multiple signs of impairment at the scene. This prompted the responding officers to arrest him for driving under the influence. "Driving under the influence doesn’t just risk your life; it puts the entire community in danger," the department emphasized.
Thankfully, the incident did not involve any pedestrians or occupants of other vehicles, averting what could have been a more tragic outcome. The Alhambra Police used this occasion to remind the public about the importance of road safety and the options available for those who are unable to drive sober. They suggest using a rideshare service, taxi, or a sober designated driver to ensure safe travel.
The department also encouraged the public to remain vigilant. "If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, call 9-1-1 immediately," they stated in the post.
