Attempting to halt the suspect vehicle related to a narcotics investigation, the incident unfolded as the passenger exited the vehicle with a firearm and was subsequently shot, pronounced dead at the scene. Carried out by detectives from the State Police Force Investigation Unit and Bureau of Investigations, this occurred at a dead end on Lake Long Drive in Houma. In the chaos of the moment, the driver managed to reinitiate a pursuit that ended with a collision on Louisiana Highway 1 near Lefort Bypass Road.
The updated statement by the Louisiana State Police indicated the driver was transported from the crash site to a local hospital. Upon being released, the driver "will be booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Center for various charges related to this incident."
