Madison County schools will receive nearly $506,000 in funding through the Secured School Safety Grant Program, part of a statewide effort providing $27 million to 494 schools. Among the local schools receiving grants are Alexandria Community School Corp. and Anderson Community School Corp., each set to receive $92,500, and The Classical Academy, receiving $69,375, as per the Indiana House Republicans release.
The grants can be used for a variety of safety measures, including staffing school resource officers and implementing warning systems. State representatives emphasized that the funding is intended to help schools address evolving safety risks and improve security protocols.
Since the program began in 2013, Indiana has allocated over $214 million for school safety. Schools and communities in Madison County are expected to use the new funding to enhance both preventative and responsive safety measures. Additional information on the Secured School Safety Grant Program is available through Indiana’s official school safety website.
