A violent incident occurred at a St. George bar this past weekend, resulting in two employees being stabbed after an altercation with a patron. Mario Lerma Perez, 22, now faces several charges following the incident on Saturday night at the One and Only bar. According to FOX 13, staff requested Perez to leave due to his excessive intoxication after he fell from his chair and acted aggressively when somebody tried to assist him.

Following his ejection from the premises, Perez seemed to have returned to his vehicle, retrieved a knife, and then approached the bar with the intent to confront the employees. "Mario stated that he felt disrespected by the employees, so he grabbed the knife from his vehicle and was planning on going back into the bar to make them show him some respect," reads a portion of the police booking affidavit obtained by KSL. This confrontation led to Perez allegedly stabbing one victim in the arm and another in the clavicle area outside the front door of the bar.

Emergency surgery was required for the first victim because of a sliced artery, while the latter was regarded, according to officers, as "fortunate" due to the proximity of his wound to his neck. "Easily have been much worse," were the words used in court documents to describe what could have transpired, as reported by KUTV.

Perez's confrontation with law enforcement was no less contentious. He allegedly resisted arrest, prompting officers to use a taser to subdue him. A subsequent investigation by the St. George Police unearthed three open bottles of beer, THC gummies, and a sheath for the knife in Perez's car. The charges he is now facing include two counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, DUI, and possession of a controlled substance, among others.
