Following the events that led to a woman being shot in Chicago, local authorities have announced the apprehension and charging of 24-year-old Aaron Sheppard. According to a press release issued by the Chicago Police Department, Sheppard, a resident of the 6200 block of S. Neenah Ave., is facing a felony charge for aggravated battery with a firearm.
The Chicago Police Department states that the arrest took place on Tuesday, after Sheppard was identified as the individual who allegedly shot a 52-year-old female in the 700 block of W. 31st Street, just fifty minutes before being detained in the 3100 block of S. Halsted St. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained injuries as a result of the gunfire. Running away from the scene of the crime, Sheppard was later taken into custody.
The case is set to move forward with a detention hearing at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California on today's date. While details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain sparse, the impact of such incidents on Chicago's community is a persistent concern.
