Earlier yesterday, a tragic collision in Lynn resulted in the death of a man after his vehicle struck an MBTA bus. The crash occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on the Route 107 Bridge on Western Avenue, as reported by Boston 25 News. A 2016 Honda Civic, operated by a 41-year-old man, crossed the double yellow line and entered the bus's path, resulting in a head-on collision.
Traveling in the opposite direction, the MBTA bus was manned by an operator and a trainee, who both escaped the incident unharmed, despite the bus being struck by the Civic. It was confirmed by WCVB that there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
In a statement obtained by Boston 25 News, the Transit Police Department expressed their grief, "On behalf of the Transit Police Department and the entire MBTA organization, we offer our most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of the decedent. Our thoughts and prayers are with them."
