Tragedy struck in Mount Pleasant in the early hours of this morning as a man was shot and killed, the incident has prompted an investigation by homicide detectives. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reported that officers were dispatched in response to a ShotSpotter alert, followed by a call about a shooting in the 3100 block of Osceola. Upon arrival, they discovered a 45-year-old man in the street, who had sustained gunshot wounds.
The first responders sought to save the man's life, EMS rapidly transported him to the hospital, where he was, unfortunately, pronounced dead, the identity of the man has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The SLMPD's news release noted that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing and details are sparse at this stage.
