
A fatal shooting occurred in Northwest Portland, leaving one man dead. The Portland Police Bureau reported that the incident took place yesterday evening, September 23. Officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Northwest Nicolai Street at 8:36 p.m. following reports of gunfire and a victim being struck. On arrival, law enforcement discovered a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds, according to a police statement.
Efforts to save the man's life were promptly administered by a community member and soon thereafter by paramedics, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Homicide detectives from the Portland Police Bureau are actively investigating the shooting. Despite their efforts, enveloped by the night's shadow, the victim's identity is pending release upon confirmation of death cause by the Medical Examiner and notification of next of kin, the police detailed.
The area where the shooting took place, Northwest Nicolai Street, will be sealed off between Northwest 29th Avenue and Northwest 31st Avenue for the continuation of the investigation.
