Atlanta neighborhoods once again grapple with the sound of gunshots—an all too familiar reverberation in the hush of night. The Atlanta Police Department reports a shooting incident at 415 Fairburn Rd. SW, where a 26-year-old man was injured in the early hours of August 31. The altercation seems to stem from a dispute spiraled out of control, an occasion not unique within city limits.
Officers from Zone 4 were dispatched to the scene after a 911 call came at approximately 1:03 a.m. Their prompt arrival was to find the victim of a gunshot, still conscious and breathing. According to the official police statement, he was quickly transported to a local hospital. The condition of the victim could have been much worse, reminding the community of the tentative nature of peace in the midst of urban strife.
The suspect didn't escape apprehension. Thaddeus Cullins, observed to be responsible, was taken into custody by the officers who responded to calmly defuse what might have devolved further.
