A woman from Memphis has been taken into custody after an incident where she reportedly refused to release a father and his two young children from her vehicle, claiming she had an alternate destination in mind for them. According to Action News 5, the woman, identified as Latricia Allen, 40, faces charges of assault and three counts of felony kidnapping.
Upon seeing the father and his children walking, Allen offered them a ride, for which the father agreed and offered $20 in return. Shortly after, Allen made an unsettling statement. "I always wanted kids, and I have a better place to take you," she told him, as reported by Action News 5. Refusing to stop the car when requested, the father took control of the vehicle, bringing it to a stop and escaping with his children.
Following the escape, Allen purportedly pursued the family, "began scratching, and then bit the victim," causing visible injuries—including scratches on his neck and a bite mark on his hand—as per the police. WREG records state that in the aftermath of the altercation, Allen's driver's license was accidentally dropped at the scene, possibly facilitating her swift identification and arrest by the authorities.
Adding to the accounts of the harrowing event, a social media post from Lst Promo echoed the details shared by major news outlets, confirming that Allen was indeed taken into custody following her alleged return to the scene of the incident, where officers were still present. This occurrence was documented in the Facebook post, which can be accessed via Lst Promo's page.
Latricia Allen is currently behind bars, her actions leading to these serious legal charges, and her bond has been set at $11,000. She is scheduled for a court appearance today to address the allegations against her. The details of this incident are still developing, and further information may be forthcoming as the investigation continues and the legal process unfolds.
