The City of Mesa's efforts to showcase and bolster its Asian District have been recognized with a prestigious international award. The Mesa Office of Economic Development (Mesa OED) is set to receive the 2025 Excellence in Economic Development Gold Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), thanks to its insightful Asian District Brochure. The award, categorized specifically under Print Promotions, will be presented during the IEDC 2025 Annual Conference set to take place from September 14-17 in Detroit, Michigan, as reported by the City of Mesa.
Detailing the significance of the brochure, Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman shared, "Mesa's Asian District is a vital part of our community and economy." He continued to shed light on the impact of the publication, stating, "The Asian District Brochure has been an important resource to highlight the culture, commerce, and contributions of this dynamic area," Freeman told the City of Mesa. In efforts to celebrate the district's cultural richness and boost its economic profile, Mesa's approach has been strategic in promoting inclusiveness and diversity.
The brochure offers an immersive guide to Mesa’s vibrant Asian District, spotlighting its many Asian-owned businesses, eateries, and cultural destinations. More than a tourism piece, it also serves as a development tool—celebrating the district’s diversity while encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore, shop, and dine, strengthening the community’s spirit in the process, as per the City of Mesa.
This recognition from the IEDC annually spotlights organizations, entities, and initiatives that have markedly excelled in economic development, rejuvenating communities and cultivating a positive trajectory for the industry. Mesa OED's accolade signals its effective execution of projects that capacitate significant revitalization and contribute substantially to best practices in economic progress.
