As September rolls into Miami, the weather is predictably unpredictable, with a mix of thunderstorms and high humidity set to dominate the forecast. According to the National Weather Service, residents should expect "showers and thunderstorms" with an 80% chance of precipitation today and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. The high is near 88 degrees, while tonight brings a 60% chance of continued thunderstorms and a partly cloudy sky with a low around 77 degrees.
Continuing through the weekend, the outlook doesn't brighten significantly. According to Local 10 News, "Outdoor plans could get interrupted by rain" as "the balance of Sunday's rain likely will come during the afternoon" when daytime heating is likely to spur additional thunderstorms. Notably, with the heat index values forecasting as high as 101, locals may hope to find reprieve in those temporary cooldowns provided by the intermittent storms.
The same pattern persists well into next week, as the National Weather Service indicates a continued 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms from Sunday through to Friday. Temperatures will hover close to 89 degrees for most days, while nighttime brings slight relief with lows around 77 degrees. The winds, mostly coming from the south, should stay between 3 and 10 mph, which might do little more than stir the heavy humidity characteristic of a Miami summer.
As the workweek begins, Monday's forecast predicts a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then conditions forecast to possibly become stormy between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by a likely bout of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. It appears South Florida residents will have to adapt to bear frequent, potentially disruptive weather, managing to navigate notedly a high chance of precipitation at 70% and moderate, variable winds throughout the evening.
