A 17-year-old Monticello resident was arrested yesterday in connection with a homicide case in Lamar County. The suspect, Arrington Mckheil Bostic, is accused of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime following the shooting death of 41-year-old Deondrey Florence of Barnesville, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The arrest is part of an intensifying inquiry which has already seen two other individuals taken into custody last week. Ferrijha Sakarra Sims, 18, faces charges for Tampering with Evidence, and Wadderius Dyjon Brown, 19, for making False Statements. In a continued effort to meticulously carry out justice, the GBI has requested that anyone with information to step forward and assist in the apprehension and understanding of all involved.
According to a statement on the GBI's website, the homicide in question took place in Barnesville, Lamar County, where Florence was found dead. The incident occurred on the night of September 20, and the Barnesville Police Department reached out to the GBI the following day to help investigate the serious crime.
In their ongoing investigation, the details of which continue to emerge, authorities are seeking assistance from the community. The GBI has made a call for any relevant information and has provided contact numbers and an online tip submission platform to encourage community members to come forward. Tips can be submitted through a variety of channels including a dedicated phone line, an online portal, and a mobile application, thus reflecting the urgency to fully uncover every element of the case. Bostic, Sims, and Brown have been booked into the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation forges ahead.
The GBI asserts it will persist in its investigation until the full scope of the case is brought to light. Upon completion, the findings will be delivered to the Towaliga District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution. This denotes a commitment to ensuring that the processes of law and order are thoroughly and responsibly executed.
