Atlanta's frequent drivers should take note: A section of Moores Mill Road NW is off-limits for most traffic today. The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) is cutting off the stretch between Peachtree Battle NW and West Wesley Road NW from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. according to a bulletin on the Atlanta Department of Transportation website.
The roadblock is for a good reason though, trees that probably have seen more peachy battles than we can fathom need to come down. The closure is specifically aimed to accommodate tree removal activities, and while the inconvenience might irk some, open sidewalks seem like a fair trade. It's the drive or stroll dilemma, but for today, strolling's off the table too – sidewalks along Moores Mill Road NW will be closed as long as the saws are buzzing and the branches are falling.
If you're in the neighborhood, don’t expect to cruise through this corridor during the day. Atlanta Department of Transportation has restricted traffic to local access only, so if you're just passing by, you'll need to chart a new course. For residents and businesses caught in the commotion, the department has a line open for questions at [email protected], ready to field any concerns or provide clarity on the day's restrictions.
