Yesterday, a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV brought Washington County deputies to the scene along SW Johnson School Road. The Washington County Sheriff's Office disclosed that around 6:13 a.m., they received a call about the accident near the 33000 block. The incident resulted in serious consequences, with the motorcyclist suffering critical injuries and another person sustaining less severe injuries.
The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) promptly stepped in to manage the situation, examining the site and implementing a temporary closure of the road between SW Tongue Lane and SW Riedweg Road. Their investigation unearthed that Cristhian Carranza, aged 30, was travelling eastbound in a 2012 Toyota Highlander and made an illegal pass in a designated no-passing zone, leading to a collision with the oncoming motorcyclist heading westbound.
The injured motorcyclist received emergency medical attention and was airlifted to the hospital while facing life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the passenger in the Highlander was also hospitalised with injuries, non-life-threatening in nature. According to the account provided by deputies, the roads were closed to facilitate the investigation, which remains active with no charges being filed yet.
