
A tragic sequence of events unfolded in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland on Tuesday, leaving a motorcyclist dead after an initial crash followed by a secondary collision involving an ambulance. The Portland Police Bureau reported the incident occurred near Northeast 15th Avenue and Northeast Lombard Street at around 3:45 p.m. According to official statements, officers found the motorcyclist with critical injuries at the scene.
The injured party was quickly attended to by emergency responders and was being transported to the hospital when the ambulance they were in crashed into another vehicle, as per the Portland Police Bureau. This occurred near Northeast Lombard Street and Northeast Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. A second ambulance had to quickly intervene to continue the urgent transport of the injured motorcyclist. Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to their injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the initial collision with the motorcyclist was reported to have suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment. The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team is actively investigating the circumstances of both incidents. The collisions have led to significant traffic disruptions in the area as authorities work on the scene.
