
A fatal hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a motorcyclist yesterday morning on Interstate 240 near Getwell Road in Memphis. The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m., where the collision involved a 2007 silver Chrysler 300 and a black 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, Action News 5 reports.
According to the initial investigation, the Chrysler was merging onto the interstate's westbound lane from the Getwell Road on-ramp when it struck the Harley Davidson from behind, the rider was also accessing the interstate via the same ramp and as a result, the motorcyclist, whose identity has yet to be disclosed by the authorities, was pronounced dead at the scene, this information was detailed by FOX13 Memphis.
The driver of the Chrysler fled the site of the collision, leaving the motorcyclist behind, and has since been the subject of a police search, as noted by WREG. Specific details about the events leading up to the accident or the potential motives of the driver who fled remain under investigation as the Memphis Police Department continues to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information relating to the crash.
