A Mount Pleasant man faces life imprisonment after being apprehended and charged with a slew of felonies, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct. According to ClickOnDetroit, William Paul Thompson, 22, was arrested following a woman's escape from a week-long captivity and repeated assaults in a tent. Allegedly using a weapon to instill fear, Thompson reportedly kept the 21-year-old woman confined against her will.
The victim managed to break free, reporting the ordeal to the police last Saturday. The police, upon her courageous act, quickly responded, leading to Thompson's apprehension and the discovery of evidence that corroborated her claims.
The Michigan State Police Sixth District divulged specifics of the incident via a social media post, sharing that troopers were dispatched to a local business where the complaint was initially lodged.

Thompson was arraigned in the Isabella County Court yesterday, with multiple felony charges stacked against him: Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Weapons – Dangerous Weapon – Carrying with Unlawful Intent, Weapons – Carrying Concealed, and Felonious Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Following the arrest by the state police, having identified and located the suspect as the woman initially escaped, the case has now been transferred to the Isabella County Prosecutor's Office for further proceedings.
