A man was arrested after a tense standoff with Brown County SWAT in Mt. Orab yesterday, as local authorities responded to reports of an individual threatening people with a handgun. The incident started in a mobile home park located at 3800 Lake Grant Access, according to the Mt. Orab Police Department.
Police received multiple 911 calls just before 4:30 p.m., with one caller stating that the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old David Campbell, was attempting to provoke a fight while pointing a handgun at another man, LOCAL12 reported. Another witness called to report that the man was waving the gun around and yelling threats.
Responding officers initially located Campbell in the roadway, but their presence spurred him to retreat back inside one of the residences of the park. Attempts to coax Campbell out peacefully were unsuccessful, leading to the intervention by the Brown County Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT team.
The standoff concluded with Campbell being taken into custody "without incident," and he was transported to Brown County Adult Detention Center. He faces charges that include aggravated menacing, resisting arrest and child endangerment, as detailed by WLWT. The Brown County Job and Family Services, along with other local departments, provided support during the incident.
No one was injured throughout the duration of the standoff. The arrest was confirmed by the Brown County Jail records, listing Campbell's booking time as 6:20 p.m. Further details on the situation at the mobile home park or the motive behind the threats have not been made immediately available, WCPO noted in their coverage of the arrest.
