The new bridge replacing the aged swing bridge over the Amite River on LA 16, in French Settlement, opens its lanes to the public at 2 pm, promising to enhance local connectivity and traffic flow.
The construction of the new permanent concrete bridge, now complete, signals the end of an era for the historic swing bridge, which has served the community for decades. The newer, sturdier structure is a response to the ever-growing needs of the area, particularly in terms of resilience and reliability.
