
The New Orleans Police Department has made an arrest following a homicide that shook the 300 block of North Rampart Street. Officials confirmed the arrest of Feliciana Winniford, a 38-year-old Black female, in connection with the death of a man found unresponsive in a local hotel room. The incident, which was initially reported as an unclassified death on September 23, has since been officially classified as a homicide following the suspected involvement of blunt force trauma.
Authorities were alerted to the situation at around 12:20 p.m., and upon arrival, officers discovered the decedent at the scene. Investigators were quick to act, and thorough detective work led them to positively identify Winniford as the alleged perpetrator. A second-degree murder arrest warrant was subsequently issued. According to NOPD News, "NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Winniford as the perpetrator in this incident."
The arrest occurred without incident on September 24, when NOPD Homicide Section detectives and officers from the Sixth District located Winniford at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Claiborne Avenue. She was taken into custody and is to be booked into the Orleans Justice Center as the investigation continues to unfold.
This recent apprehension underscores the department's unrelenting effort to swiftly bring suspects to justice. The case's details remain under review, with NOPD officials maintaining an ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the victim’s untimely demise. Feliciana Winniford was located and arrested today, NOPD stated.
