The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is asking for public assistance in a homicide investigation on Elysian Fields Avenue. Officers responded to the 1400 block on Thursday last week at about 11:10 a.m. after a call reporting an unclassified death, according to a New Orleans Police Department release.

A concerned individual performing a wellness check found an adult male unresponsive inside his home and called police. Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

An autopsy conducted by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Friday last week determined the victim had sustained a gunshot wound, and the cause of death was identified as gunshot-related injuries. The case has been reclassified as a homicide and is under investigation by the NOPD Homicide Section.

No information about suspects or motives has been released. The New Orleans Police Department urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the department or Crimestoppers. The investigation is ongoing.
