An incident unfolded on City Island Wednesday night when a 30-year-old woman, identified as Anthonella Contreras Linarez, was fatally stabbed while sitting in her car after an alleged attack by two men on a moped. The New York Police Department is actively investigating the incident, as reported by ABC7NY. The woman's boyfriend, who drove them to a hospital in New Rochelle with a stab wound in his arm, recounted to police that the attack occurred near Park Drive and City Island Road around 8 p.m.
According to the boyfriend's account, he had pulled over close to Rodman’s Neck to urinate when two assailants approached Contreras Linarez, attempting to rob her and then stabbing her multiple times as she resisted, details relayed in a story published by the New York Post. The boyfriend claimed that he attempted to intervene and stop the attackers, consequently sustaining injuries himself, yet this narrative has raised doubts within the victim’s family.
Contreras Linarez, who was driven to Montefiore Hospital by her injured partner, did not survive the attack, with multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, and body; her boyfriend, however, was stabilized and later released with his role in the evening's events remaining a focal point of questioning from authorities. “The only question I have for him is, what happened?” Mayker Contreras told the New York Post. "We’d like to know what happened. We want the truth of what happened," he emphasized.
The Contreras family, hailing from the Dominican Republic and residing in New York for about 11 years, is coping with their loss while awaiting answers from the ongoing investigation. Marcos Contreras, Anthonella's father, conveyed to the New York Post, “Police are investigating, so I can’t say it wasn’t that way. I have to wait until the police investigate.”
