Officials had previously issued a call for public assistance via their Facebook page in an effort to locate any family or next of kin for Mr. Fowlkes, who was born on October 12, 1959, and passed away on September 5. The request for assistance was made after he was found deceased within the city limits of Newbern.
The Newbern Police Department asked for help finding relatives of Mr. Fowlkes and shared Investigator Danny Tippit’s contact information. By the next day, police confirmed they had identified his family.
