An 11-year-old boy recuperates from a gunshot wound following an incident inside a Norcross home that involved a 15-year-old, Gwinnett County Police reported. The shooting occurred yesterday evening in the 2500 block of Gwinn Drive, as per the details shared by FOX 5 Atlanta. Police responded around 7 p.m. and discovered the injured child, who was then transported to Arthur Blank Hospital with expectations for recovery.
Details are sparse due to the juveniles' involvement, as such, the Gwinnett County police have held back on releasing further information, though they have stressed that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public, as noted in the same FOX 5 Atlanta report, the police investigation is ongoing and it is unclear how the 15-year-old was involved but, an isolated incident this may be, echoes a broader societal malaise where firearms find their way into the hands of children.
Meanwhile, 11Alive mentions that the 11-year-old victim is currently on the mend in the hospital. At this point, the extent of the 15-year-old's involvement hasn't been disclosed by authorities.
