The NYPD Crimestoppers have turned to the public for assistance in apprehending an individual connected to a series of robberies in the Bronx area. According to a social media post by the NYPD, the first incident took place on July 16, when a 44-year-old woman was robbed of her jewelry by an unidentified person who approached her from behind at 728 Metcalf Avenue. After making a threatening statement, the assailant obtained another piece of jewelry from the victim before fleeing the scene with an accomplice on a motorized scooter.
The pattern of robberies continued on August 6, when a 74-year-old woman was targeted while waiting for an elevator at 715 Noble Avenue. Using similar tactics, the robber made a threatening statement and forcibly took the victim's jewelry before escaping in the same manner as in the previous incident. The assailants were last seen heading towards Seward Avenue on their motorized vehicle. These cases fall under the jurisdiction of the NYPD 43 Precinct.
Residents of the affected neighborhoods are increasingly concerned about their safety, and officials have urged anyone with information to come forward. The Crimestoppers post emphasizes the importance of public involvement by stating, "Have any info? DM @nypdtips or call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)."
The NYPD has not disclosed specifics regarding the value of jewelry stolen or the prosecution strategy they intend to pursue once the suspect is apprehended.
