Oklahoma City and nearby metro areas are experiencing multiple construction projects, resulting in numerous lane closures and detours. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced a range of traffic disruptions expected to affect daily commutes and travel, especially along US-77, I-35, and I-40.

Traffic changes are also underway at the I-35 and SH-9W interchange near Goldsby, where construction on a Diverging Diamond Interchange is expected to continue through 2026. The project includes widening I-35 and adding two roundabouts. ODOT advises drivers to use US-77 or I-44 as alternate routes to avoid the construction zone.

Meanwhile, I-44 will also experience closures, with all westbound lanes (heading south) between I-240 and 74th Street closing overnight today, and related ramp closures continuing into tomorrow morning.

Long-term construction projects are affecting traffic flow along the I-40 corridor, including lane narrowing at Douglas Blvd. in Midwest City expected to continue through 2025, and a bridge project causing the closure of I-44 ramps at N.W. 10th St. until late fall. These disruptions also extend to other routes like SH-152 and US-270, where lane reductions and closures for surface work and reconstruction will persist over the coming years.
