Okmulgee, Oklahoma, is grappling with a recent tragedy following an altercation that turned deadly. Local police were called to a home on Crutchmer Avenue, where they discovered Robert Henry unresponsive due to injuries sustained during a dispute that spiraled into violence. Sources from KOCO and others have confirmed that the incident occurred just after midday on Monday, with first responders rushing to the scene after reports of a physical altercation between two individuals.
Upon their arrival, Okmulgee Police Department officials found Mr. Henry in a home's front yard, quickly transporting him to Tulsa Saint Francis Hospital. Tragically, he later died from the injuries. According to the reports shared by the local news outlet KFOR, officers at the scene arrested Steve Allen Keel, who, apart from being involved in the altercation, also had an active felony warrant out for his arrest from the District Court of Okmulgee County.
Further investigation into the gruesome event discovered that the confrontation stemmed from a lawn equipment service repair dispute. During the altercation, Keel allegedly struck Henry with an axe, which led to the fatal outcome. Following the incident, Keel was arrested and booked on the District Court warrant and faces additional charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as reported by KTUL.
The Okmulgee Police Department has been meticulous in its investigation of this homicide and has stated that it will forward their investigative report to the Okmulgee County District Attorney's Office for possible formal charges.
