Last night, a deadly shooting occurred in The Greater Ville neighborhood, which resulted in the death of one man and left two others wounded. The incident, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, took place on September 14 but details were still unfolding as of early this morning.
Following calls for shots fired and alerts from the ShotSpotter system just after 9 p.m., police discovered evidence of the violence at the 4500 block of Cottage Avenue. Within the hour, a local hospital reported that three men had been admitted with gunshot injuries. One 39-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity has yet to be publicly released pending family notification. The other victims, aged 40 and 35, are now recovering, with the 40-year-old in stable condition and the 35-year-old critically but stable.
Authorities are actively seeking to fully understand the events that led to this tragic outburst of gunfire. A dark-colored vehicle, presumably used by the perpetrator(s), is a focal point of the investigation, but no suspects have been named as of yet.
Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the authorities and help to possibly prevent the spiral from claiming further casualties.
