Osceola County deputies recently had to use their "eye in the sky" to apprehend three teenagers who decided to turn a construction site into their own personal playground. According to a report from ClickOrlando, the sheriff's office helicopter played a key role in the capture, providing a clear vantage point to track the youths as they allegedly operated stolen forklifts with glee through the property.
The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. on August 22 at an Old Lake Wilson Road site. The trio, aged 15, 17, and 18, was reportedly caught in the act of driving forklifts and other equipment, resulting in deputies having to quickly respond. "They had seized or stolen some construction equipment and were joy riding it on the construction site," Sheriff Christopher Blackmon was quoted as describing the scene and coordination that led to the teens' arrest, as reported by ClickOrlando.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, the damage from their late-night escapade is estimated to be around $5,000. The teens face multiple felony charges, including burglary, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. The 18-year-old, identified as Shane Morrison, was booked into the Osceola County Jail, and the two younger suspects were sent to the Orange County Juvenile Assessment Center.
