According to the City of Palo Alto, the intrusion occurred around 11:05 PM when a man and a woman inside the home were startled awake by an unexpected commotion.
The elderly man confronted the intruder in the living room after investigating the source of the disturbance. In a rapid response, Palo Alto Police canvased the area but found the suspects had already fled. A smashed rear sliding glass door was identified as the point of entry, but officers found nothing from the residence that had been reported missing.
