A fatal accident occurred early Wednesday morning at the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Executive Park Drive in Brookhaven, claiming the life of a 27-year-old pedestrian. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the incident took place around 6:06 a.m., where a man sustained severe injuries after being struck by a white Subaru sedan.

Upon their arrival, Brookhaven Police and DeKalb Fire Rescue crews attempted life-saving procedures before the victim was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts, the victim's injuries proved fatal. The Brookhaven Police has not yet released the identity of the man. The driver of the Subaru remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement; no charges have been filed at this time.

In a statement obtained by Atlanta News First, Brookhaven Police Lt. Corey Van Alen extended condolences to the family of the deceased, stating, "Our thoughts are with the family of the victim during this very difficult time." Lt. Van Alen also emphasized the commitment of the Traffic Safety Unit to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure all aspects of the incident are fully examined.

The initial investigation suggests that the pedestrian was crossing North Druid Hills Road outside of the crosswalk and against the pedestrian signal when he was hit by the car. The area was temporarily closed for investigation but has since been reopened to traffic. Police are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed the accident to contact the Brookhaven Police Traffic Safety Unit at 404-637-0748.
