The community of Pembroke Pines is gearing up to literally kick off the weekend with their yearly convergence, Pines Night Out. Scheduled for Friday, October 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Charles F. Dodge City Center at 601 City Center Way will be transformed into an interactive arena where fun meets safety education, as per the city's official announcement.
Pines Night Out is rolling out the welcome mat for all ages, aiming to strengthen community bonds and highlight crime prevention and safety. Residents can look forward to a variety of attractions, including food and music, inflatables for children, costume contests, and health screenings. For more information, contact the Pembroke Pines Police Department’s Community Affairs Unit at 954-436-3274 or via email at [email protected].
The night will feature demonstrations by the K-9 units, who will show off their training and skills. Attendees will also have a chance to see the city’s emergency response capabilities up close, including a peek at the armored Terradyne, Dive Boat, and Motor Units, alongside Fire Trucks and Fire Department demos. These are the heavy-duty tools and talents that keep the city safe, and Pines Night Out is seizing the opportunity to showcase them in a less stressful environment.
According to the Pembroke Pines’ official announcement, Pines Night Out coincides with National Crime Prevention Month, which has been observed every October since 1984. This month-long observation aims to emphasize the significance of preventing crime and how personal safety is part of the community's collective responsibility.
Residents of Pembroke Pines have the opportunity to get an inside look at the city’s public safety departments, including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Pooches in Pines, and the Crime Scene Unit. The event highlights the work of first responders who often operate behind the scenes and are typically recognized only during emergency situations.
