Last Thursday night, a report of a domestic disturbance in Phelan escalated into a standoff with a deputy, ending with the arrest of Anthony Perez, a 40-year-old resident of the area, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department dispatch.
Responding to the disturbance, deputies arrived at a home on the 11100 Block of Anderson Rancho Road around 9:01 p.m. to find the suspect allegedly intoxicated and damaging property within the house he formerly shared with his ex-wife and children. When confronted, Perez reportedly armed himself and advanced on a deputy despite multiple warnings to drop the weapon, leading to what was described as a lethal force encounter. Anthony Perez was not struck and subsequently barricaded himself inside, as detailed in the sheriff’s department release.
The situation de-escalated when Perez later exited the residence and was taken into custody without any reported injuries.
