A stolen vehicle chase culminated in a crash on Interstate 85 southbound in Brookhaven, leading to a police pursuit involving a car that was identified on Buford Highway near Clairmont Road. FOX 5 Atlanta reported the vehicle led officers on a chase after refusing to stop for a traffic control. The driver instead accelerated, prompting the southbound chase on I-85.
The situation reached its peak when the car crashed, according to Brookhaven police statements. In the aftermath of the accident, two suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made, and both individuals remain at large; police did not release further information regarding the incident.
In a similar report, Atlanta News First described the event, stating the car "fled down I-85 south where the pursuit ended in a single-vehicle crash." The authorities have since been investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash and the subsequent disappearance of the two suspects. The overnight incident resulted in the temporary disruption of traffic, but no injuries were reported stemming from the chase itself or the crash.
Police have encouraged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the search for the two suspects continues; they have yet to provide a description of the individuals involved. While the investigation is ongoing, the department is piecing together the events that culminated in the high-speed chase and is looking into possible surveillance footage that may shed light on the identities of the fleeing suspects.
