
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office in Oklahoma has issued a warning about an increase in phone scams. Callers are impersonating law enforcement or government officials and demanding payment for supposed outstanding fines.
According to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, law enforcement will never request payment over the phone. Citizens are advised to hang up on suspicious calls and directly contact their local agency to verify any claims.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office is encouraging the public to share this warning to help prevent these scams from spreading.
