Westbound traffic on U.S. Route 54 over the Moreau River Drainage, south of Jefferson City, has returned to regular patterns following bridge rehabilitation. Work on the bridge began on August 11 and was completed yesterday, ahead of the original schedule. Repairs included applying a protective coating to the substructure and repairing and overlaying the bridge deck, as per the Missouri Department of Transportation release.
The early completion was made possible by carrying out additional substructure repairs before the lane closure, reducing impacts on commuters.
Eastbound traffic remains limited to a single lane at the Neighorn Branch, where crews are replacing the bridge. This work is expected to be finished today
Afterward, Missouri Department of Transportation plans to begin rehabilitation on the westbound bridge, which will again create a single-lane, head-to-head traffic setup. Drivers are advised to follow traffic signs and safety measures in work zones.
