Riviera Beach, FL became the scene of high tension on Thursday when a man collided with a residential structure and later brandished a gun in a threatening manner. According to CBS12, multiple 911 calls at around 5:57 p.m. on Thursday detailed a car crashing into a house at 233 W. 14th Street. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Keanu Kristopher Montaque, allegedly threatened to "kill everyone and himself."

Quickly apprehended at his residence, after running through the community with a weapon, police captured Montaque in the 1600 block of Avenue F. Recovered during the harrowing incident was a cache of 14 firearms and ammunition, reported BocaNewsNow. The Riviera Beach Police Department has secured these weapons pending a Risk Protection Order, having responded to the threats made by Montaque with urgent intervention.

The department "Baker Acted" Montaque, invoking the Florida statute that allows for involuntary examination of an individual demonstrating the potential for self harm or harm to others. He was taken into custody and later transported to HCA Florida JFK North Hospital in West Palm Beach for further mental health evaluation.

While there have not been formal charges announced against Montaque, the police continue to investigate and process the distressing affair. Once found at his home, Montaque was taken under a Baker Act for mental health evaluation, a process which, involved securing the large number of firearms and ammunition that were later seized, suggests a concerning mix of high-risk behavior and ready access to lethal means.
