In a move to clamp down on the heinous crime of child exploitation, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, alongside Roselle Chief of Police Rob Barreto, announced the pre-trial detention of Jorge Figueroa, a 35-year-old Roselle man accused of possessing child pornography and methamphetamine. According to a statement obtained by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office, Judge Joshua Dieden granted the state’s motion following Figueroa's court appearance earlier today where he faced multiple felony charges.

Figueroa's precarious freedom was halted thanks to an investigation spearheaded by the Roselle Police Department, which was tipped off by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on May 30, 2025. Detectives ascertained that on May 6, 2025, Figueroa allegedly made use of his Snapchat account to upload child pornography. Possessing a prior conviction, he has been charted with seven counts of Possession of Child Pornography, each a Class 1 Felony. As about one gram of methamphetamine was allegedly recovered from his home, he is also charged with one count of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony. Furthermore, failure to register as a sex offender contributes another Class 3 Felony to his rap sheet.

"Child pornography is not a victimless crime," Berlin starkly reminded the community. "Year after year, hundreds of thousands of images are downloaded and shared over the Internet with each image representing yet another innocent, young victim of child pornography. To protect these innocent children, my office stands ready to vigorously prosecute any allegations of child pornography," Berlin said in a statement following the latest developments.

The coordinated raid that led to the recovery of the illicit material was made possible by the joint efforts of DuPage County Sheriff’s Digital Forensics Unit and Roselle Police Department, with Barreto praising the inter-agency collaboration. “I commend the hard work and professionalism of the Roselle Police Department detective division in arresting this subject and making Roselle a safer community,” Barreto said, offering a special acknowledgment to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Investigation Unit who provided vital support and assistance during the operation, in a statement obtained by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.

Figueroa’s legal journey continues with his next court date scheduled for October 6, 2025, where he will appear before Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh. In a reminder to the public, the DuPage County State’s Attorney's office noted that the complaint contains only charges at this time, and Figueroa, like any defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
