Big news for commuters in the northwest metro—the arrival of a new bus route aims to significantly cut down travel time. Metro Transit has announced the launch of Route 725, set to provide crosstown links starting in December. According to the City of Coon Rapids website, this new addition will connect the cities of Osseo, Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, and Blaine, offering a more direct route and shaving about an hour off the commute between 85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park and Northtown Mall in Blaine.
Operating seven days a week, from the early birds at 6 a.m. to the night owls at 10 p.m., Route 725 will run approximately every 60 minutes. Holiday schedules align with the regular service, ensuring accessibility when it’s needed most. Riders looking to make transfers will find Route 725 intersecting with a number of other routes, including 10, 25, 705, 723, 724, 764, 804, 805, 852 (the future route 827), and 860.
Engagement with the community remains a priority. Ahead of the route's official rollout, Metro Transit is seeking essential input from those who call the northwest metro home. Finalization of bus stop placements hinges on this feedback to ensure that the service caters optimally to the community's needs. An online survey is currently open, inviting customers and residents to share their thoughts on where stops should be located to best serve key destinations.
