Drivers in Maries County should prepare for detours as Route AA south of Argyle will close beginning the Monday morning next week for rehabilitation of the Little Maries River Bridge, which has been in use since 1966. According to Missouri Department of Transportation, the bridge’s driving surface will be replaced and work is expected to be completed by mid-November.

The closure will affect about 400 motorists daily. Detour routes will direct traffic through Osage County Route T, Osage County Route P, and U.S. Route 63. The Missouri Department of Transportation noted that the work schedule depends on weather conditions.

This project is part of a larger effort contracted to Louis-Company, LLC to rehabilitate several bridges in the region, including Route AA over the Maries River, Missouri Route 42 over Fly Creek, and Route 42 over the Maries River. These projects are planned for completion by the end of 2026.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds motorists to buckle up, put phones away, obey traffic signs, and slow down in work zones. Drivers are advised to use caution and follow posted detours.
