A Roxbury man has been apprehended in connection with a drug trafficking investigation. Jorge Ramirez, 45, was apprehended yesterday following a probe by several Drug Control Units from South Boston, Brighton/Allston, and Downtown. Ramirez, a Roxbury resident, was under surveillance after an investigation led to the issuance of a search warrant by Roxbury District Court for both his person and his residence at 1113 Harrison Avenue.
The operation concluded yesterday, with officers executing a surveillance operation that resulted in Ramirez's exit from the targeted dwelling. Approaching the suspect, law enforcement safely detained him without an incident. A follow-up search of Ramirez's residence uncovered illicit substances believed to be cocaine and crack cocaine, in addition to paraphernalia associated with drug distribution. The search yielded one bag with approximately 62 grams of cocaine and another containing around 60 grams of crack cocaine, both of which were found in a kitchen cabinet. Notably, investigators also recovered three plastic bags, each containing about 5 grams of crack cocaine, ingeniously hidden inside candles. These items, together with an undisclosed sum of U.S. currency, multiple cell phones, plastic bags, gloves, and a scale, pointed to a drug distribution operation.
Ramirez now faces charges of cocaine trafficking between 100 and 200 grams. According to Boston Police, he is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court soon after his arrest. The drug seizures and apprehension mark a significant effort by local drug control units to dismantle narcotics distribution within the community.
