The San Diego Police Department has reported a double homicide in the Nestor neighborhood, with two men fatally shot within camper trailers in an industrial storage lot. The incident occurred in the early hours last Saturday, near the 2002 Sunset Avenue vicinity, approximately a mile and a half from the border with Mexico.
Upon receiving multiple reports of gunfire, police located and identified the victims as 42-year-old Aaron Cruz and 64-year-old Richard Hartung, both of whom resided in the campers where they were found deceased. In an email press release from San Diego Police, they stated they were able "to quickly begin to piece together" the circumstances surrounding the shootings with help from city and private security cameras, which led to the identification of a suspect vehicle, described as a red Chevy Suburban.
Following up on their lead, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by their surveillance data. On Tuesday, at about 12:45 p.m., a traffic stop was initiated on the suspected Suburban at 130 West Calle Primera. The driver was arrested and identified as 24-year-old David Verduzco Kruglova, a Hispanic man. According to the San Diego Police Department, Kruglova now faces two counts of murder charges and is currently held in the County Jail.
