San Francisco firefighters faced a tough situation yesterday, responding to a structure fire in a multi-residential building on Crestline Avenue. At approximately 12:26 PM, crews arrived at the 20 block of Crestline Avenue and began battling the blaze that broke out in the six-story apartment complex. The San Francisco Fire Department noted that the fire started in the lower levels of the building.
As smoke billowed from the structure, firefighters escorted several tenants to safety. The immediate response helped to prevent any injuries among the residents, a fortunate outcome amidst the chaos. Sadly, during the firefighting efforts, a dog was rescued but could not be saved despite paramedics performing CPR, as reported by the San Francisco Fire Department.
The fire's aftermath left five tenants without a place to call home. The Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region promptly assisted those affected by the fire.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and the full extent of the damage to the Crestline Avenue building is still being assessed.
