The San José Police Department has reported the arrest of 19-year-old Kaiwen Du on charges associated with the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to a statement from the SJPD, their Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force investigated the illegal downloading and distribution of CSAM back in March of 2025.
Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that Du was allegedly involved in downloading and sharing numerous files of underage sexual abuse material. The ICAC detectives tracked the activity to his San José residence, securing a warrant to search the property. On August 27, the task force detained Du with support from other law enforcement divisions. During the apprehension, evidence confirming their suspicions was seized, further implicating him in these grave offenses.
What raises the concern is that Du was serving as an instructor at a local after-school program in Sunnyvale at the time of his arrest. This detail, confirming him as a figure trusted among children, intensifies the seriousness of the allegations against him. The proximity of an alleged predator to his potential victims is chillingly close in this case.
The SJPD has been tight-lipped on the specifics of the evidence collected from Du’s home. Yet, they have shared that materials associated with child sexual abuse were found there. Du was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and is facing charges for both possession and distribution of CSAM.
