
The San José Police Department is currently investigating a tragic incident that took place on Thursday, where a collision between a motorcycle and a truck resulted in one fatality and left a minor injured. This event marks the 27th traffic-related death in the city for the year 2025, a figure equal to the number of fatal collisions reported thus far.
The incident occurred around 8:25 PM at Branham Lane and Capay Drive. According to the police report, an adult male was riding his 2011 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Branham Lane while involved in a head-on collision with a 2011 Ford truck executing a left turn onto westbound Branham Lane from Capay Drive. Tragically, the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital only to later succumb to his injuries.
The driver of the Ford truck, also an adult male, was accompanied by two juveniles at the time of the accident. While the driver cooperated with the subsequent investigation, one of the juvenile passengers was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The official press release from the San José Police Department provided these details but did not disclose the identity of the deceased, stating it will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner at a later date.
