A local driver was arrested following a drunk hit-and-run incident last Friday. Eddy Sifuentes Hernandez, behind the wheel of a Toyota CHR, collided with a Toyota Prius after running a stop sign at the intersection of 12th and Palm Ave. Following the crash at approximately 6:10 PM, Hernandez abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot, as per the San Mateo Police Department.

Police officers were able to locate Hernandez shortly after on 12th Ave, where he was found to be over the legal alcohol limit. A preliminary blood alcohol test indicated a .196% BAC, more than double the allowed .08%. Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Hernandez, driving with a suspended license, was arrested on charges including drunk driving and causing injury, and was subsequently transported to San Mateo County Jail.
